Gucci's Face Tattoo

A look backstage reveals #METASWAG's original Year In Review design. Ew.

Thesis
When one is swamped with schoolwork, one must not blog too much. In other words: Sup, fam! It's been a while. You would not believe what I've been through since I last blogged.

Maybe I'll tell you later. My dear friend Ros left just last week, and I'm to see E.swee off tomorrow (I smell Frisco melts). These are indeed tough times. But nevertheless, I'm finding fun to squeeze in between stresses.

The New Year
So my resolutions aren't panning out completely according to plan. I've definitely become more health conscious, but I haven't acted on this consciousness much. Which is just as good! I've cut soda from my diet, and am eating healthier in general (outside of some Steak 'n Shake visits). I've even made it to the gym. Once. I'm making an effort to enjoy the time I have with my thoughts - to be more aware of myself. To quote Far East Movement, "And I'm like hell yeeeaaaah."

It could be mentioned here, as I can't think of anywhere else to put it, that Weezy's post-prison (New Year?) output has been phenomenal. Way to go, champ. I've been consistently bumping Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now" thanks to Tunechi's killer verse and that sickly saccharine "Play"-like beat.

Also of the New Year, Earth's Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light 1 and Destroyer's Kaputt are duking it out for the Best Album so far.

Sprung
Yes, school is very much in session. The course load I have this semester is by far the most challenging I've ever taken on, but it's with a great delight that I'm tackling these subjects. Feminist Theory is an engaging and energetic beginning to the week (and at 2:30 no less). The Atom Bomb & Japan is fascinating. My two English courses (18th & 20th Century Literature) are both wonderful for their readings and their discussions. Bioanthropology is the only dud, but thankfully a dud that I attend with three friends.

So, despite the heavy homework lifting (I was seriously assigned over 1,000 pages of reading for last night - hella wut), I'm enjoying myself.

HAUSU
This is a great film. The Collins Film Society hosted a very successful screening last night. A good 11 students showed up, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It's such an energetic and joyous film, captivating in how assuredly (blindly?) it blends tones and styles. I think it enjoys the distinction of being the most totally unique movie I've ever seen.

LOTR Love
Yes, it's happening again. Another marathon of these classic films (Extended Editions, of course). They speak to me. The characters, the story, the music, the design - all flawlessly executed. It's a triumph of filmmaking. Pretty astonishing that I'm still tearing up and getting chills after all these years. The Fellowship this time around is comprised of me, Rachel the GF, Sara, Cara, Jay, &drew, & Drew. A perfect set of cinema to watch with friends. We finished Fellowship tonight, and shall continue through Two Towers on Friday. Return either comes Saturday or Sunday.* We intend to watch the trilogy with commentary after spring break. That's a Fellowship, right there.

Sunday*
My poor father hasn't been able to sleep all week he's so anticipating Sunday's game. I'm pretty nervous too, finding myself devoting actual thought to football for the first time since I left the old homestead for a university education. #BEARDOWN

Conclusions
This is a fine time of the year! Touches of spring are finding their way into the chilled air. &drew and I are seeing an apartment on Friday, which we'll hopefully be renting for the next school year. Exciting, no? I've gotta feeling.

Up next for the Fellowship...
