"Groundplay"

Crayon red

Flaring up under your eyelids

And the heart of the sun

Dripping on you

Open up

Catch it on your tongue

And spit it back out

On the sidewalk

Drag the chalk

Across it

That’s where you notice

Crawling ants

Dive into the grass

That’s where you notice

The anthill

That’s where you notice

"Inside Out"

write it all down

Do Not Tell

he didn’t want her to know

It Is A Cry For Help

he loved people to read it all

Try Humility

but it always dragged on

Embrace Your Secrecy

he should let it stay his own

Thesis

it’s better like this

"Wet Wood"

Grab the flashlight

Carry it with you and your raincoat

The whole woods opened up like

Grand mouth of the Devil

A lake of saliva and its chewed up

Shine the flashlight at it all

The trees are so far apart

You can walk between them with your arms stretched out and you still have room

The ground here

Still wet shine a light on It It still holds rain

You remember the rain and the shrieking typing reading texts

Turning

Round and round and round and like

A fire in your hands

Drop the flashlight

Cast long long shadows on the rain wet wood floor

Opens up

And Drags You Down Into The Lake

"Worse Words"

It bounces back and forth

Reflections of one to the other

Side to side light dashes and drops

From sight

I’m sorry

You always make it about her

Make it about the bouncing light dropping

And turning into noise

Runs circles around my head around my brain

Can’t you feel it too

It’s almost too

Much to

Of course I always make it

You’re the one who drags it

It crawls across the ocean floor too

And that’s where it shoots

Back up

Into sight

And turns back into noise and the bouncing

From side to side all around

Swishes you around in its mouth like you’re

Too much

Growing bigger and wider and

Tidal wave

Small tree on the shore

It’s lightning turning into

All around you too

And it sees you too

Dropping down and shooting up

Never ending its

Noise turning circles

Conclusions
What do you think? I'm getting lots of sleep tonight! Great stuff. Also, it's well worth noting: there's nothing quite like enjoying a lovely evening with a lovely person (you know). I suppose I'll get some shut-eye in. Or tweet and tweet and tweet like a bird. Hey there! Goodnight!

  1. GOOOOOD.
Wet wood is my fave, because "The whole woods opened up like/Grand mouth of the Devil" is a fantastic image. I love the concrete base you have going here with little hints of the surreal. Groundplay, Worse Words and Inside Out are all super cool, too. KEEP WRITIN'.
